On Serving
1st Peter 4:12 Passion Translation Bible
Every believer has received grace gifts, so use them to serve one another as faithful stewards of the many-colored tapestry of God’s grace.
I got my first taste of volunteering with my Nana. I don’t remember how old I was. However, I do remember the feeling I had after we dropped off several meals to older people in the Meals on Wheels program. She had the biggest smile on her face each time we departed the driveway and headed to the next address. She loves to help people. We traveled the same route every Saturday.
The following Saturday, I noticed that we were going a d her about the kind man we used to serve. “Nana, are we stopping at his house today?” She said, “No, baby. He passed away.” At that moment, I experienced a sad feeling. Grief. Serving others was time well spent. And it always will be.
I recently partnered with The Chelsea House, a local faith-based residential program for women. Every Monday morning, I connect with the ladies for our virtual group coaching session. We all are grateful for google chat, lol. We recently dialogued about faith in action. Each session begins and ends with a loving prayer to the Lord. Beth Burns, Director of the Chelsea House, is a strong woman of God and a true blessing in my life. We have known each other for many years. And are incredibly excited for such a time as this. It a real honor to empower the women of Chelsea house during our weekly virtual group coaching sessions.
My heart lit up when one of the ladies asked me about the mission of Beautiful Healing. I told her my prayer is that Beautiful Healing empowers women to unlearn unworthiness, unapologetically. She replied, “Mrs. Felicia, thank you for creating this. I need Beautiful Healing.” I felt yes in my spirit; serving is always time well spent!
